First of all, I finished The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Yes, I did listen to it on CD, but whatever, I got through it. I was surprising a very good book. (It was a National Book Award Winner!) It had some really, really amazing, inspring quotes that you just wanted to write down. I know it’s a short read about a few hours, so I definitely could have read it, but then I didn’t feel like I was falling more behind in school (more than I already am).

Just today, I attend the Nelson Institute Earth Day Conference to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the creation of Earth Day, my favorite non-religious holiday! Margaret Atwood came and spoke because 1. She’s awesome 2. She’s an environmentalist and 3. She’s awesome. I got a picture with her, which is besides the point, but I do now want to read two of her books… this summer when I have time. I want to read Oryx and Crake and then The Year of the Flood. They were brought up a lot at the conference.
