Audio Books Galore!
Last time, I posted I was working on reading The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. I am still reading it, but making a lot more progress now that school is done.
The best part about sumnmer so far is how many books I’ve “read” so far. I am lucky to have gotten a job this summer even though I’ll only be working for 2 months or so. Unfortunately, it’s...

Winter Break List
WOOO Winter Break. No school. What does this mean? Enough time to have a life or at least, read some books. My List:
Breathing Space By: Gregg Mitman This is the Common Read book for the “college” I’m in at Madison. Mitman is actually the director of the Nelson Institute, so it is rather cool to be reading a book by a faculty member. The topic (allergies and how they shape our...

Hiatus & Updates on My List
So my school year has been a lot more hectic than usual. I definitely am just trying to focus on getting through the end of the semester and making it out without getting horribly ill.
However, currently, I’m in the middle of reading: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
My school hosted the author, Rebecca Skloot, so of course, I went to listen. Great speaker. I’m glad I went....

Summer is a Time for Reading
Summer is here!
No more finals, no more reading biology for hours every week, no more practicing for ballet classes!
So much time to read! I know all the people that aren’t in school still have work to do, but at least, it’s still summer.

Audio Books and Atwood!!!
First of all, I finished The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Yes, I did listen to it on CD, but whatever, I got through it. I was surprising a very good book. (It was a National Book Award Winner!) It had some really, really amazing, inspring quotes that you just wanted to write down. I know it’s a short read about a few hours, so I definitely could have read...

AUDIO BOOKS!!!
I know. I know. Some people don’t count this, but it’s the only way I can fit any “reading” in right now. I would tell anyone who wants to read but doesn’t have time, so go the library and get some audio...

Reading is fundamental!
I seriously believe that I would not be the person I am today if I had not learned to love reading as much as I do. I would never have been as successful in school, I would never gained my interest in learning, I would never read my bio book for fun. I would never be half the person I am today without it.
I’m not saying, reading was easy for me. It wasn’t....

I want to read this book!!!

It was a February Indie Next Pick, so you know it’s going to be absolutely amazing!! Here’s what was said about it:
“This compelling story is the perfect answer to that request, ‘I want a really good book I can get lost in!’ This WWII story of three memorable women has a strong sense of place — from the shores of Cape Cod to war-torn London....

52 Down, 0 To Go
You can’t tell me this isn’t inspiring!!
52books:
When I went to go post a review for what I thought was my 52nd book of the year, I realized that I made a mistake. In true Laura fashion, I learned that I can read, but I can’t count. Turns out that somewhere in the mid 40’s I messed up a little, thinking that I was a book behind myself. It seems I’ve been finished with the project...

Update on My List!!
What I FINALLY Finished: The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
Shop Indie Bookstores
Seriously, I am pretty sure I have never taken so long to finish a book in my life. One year later, it’s done. I did really like it though. The middle section felt really long, but that’s probably due to the fact that was when I stop reading it for eight months. I liked the ending a lot and it made up...

I feel as if this book will never end. I received this book as a present two years ago. I started reading it last year and 600 pages later… I am still reading it. I only have about 200 and some pages left, but it’s a little overwhelming. I feel like it keeps going… forever. I’m not...

I found a link to “Librarian Nancy Pearl’s 2009 Under-The-Radar Books” on Indiebound.org. If you need any good books to read, I would suggest these. I have read one of these authors, and her books are excellent. I’m assuming the other books are just as fabulous.
If you’re fearing your List is long enough, maybe you ought to go to that link…

I finished Loving Frank...
Why I read it: I decided to read this because besides knowing he designed houses and attended UW-Madison, I didn’t know much else about Frank Lloyd Wright. This book is about an affair between Frank and another woman named Mamah. Wright is not someone I would have pegged to have had an affair, so I decided I must see what was behind the story.
What I thought: I was very intrigued by the...

I finished: The Road by Cormac McCarthy
Why I Read It: A friend was reading it and I picked it up when he set it down just to see what it was about. I had heard about it in a magazine because the movie is coming out very soon. I also saw it on a list of books you should read before you die.
